Instructions
Marinate the Prawns
- In a bowl, mix the prawns with turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Set aside to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Prepare the Masala
- Heat oil in a large pan. Add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for another minute until the raw smell disappears.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and the oil starts to separate.
- Add the coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Mix well and cook for a few minutes until the spices are well blended.
Cook the Prawns
- Add the marinated prawns to the masala. Cook on medium heat until the prawns are just done, about 5-7 minutes. Be careful not to overcook the prawns as they can become tough.
- Continue to cook until the sauce thickens and coats the prawns well. Season with salt to taste.
Finish and Serve
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Perfect with rice or roti for a delicious meal.
